Every 10 years, the White House Conference on Aging is held to assist the public and private sectors to be responsive to the needs of a diverse aging population and to promote the dignity and independence of and expand opportunities for current and future generations of older persons and their families.
Organizers will be holding regional forums across the country as well as listening sessions on various topics. To learn more, visit the White House Conference on Aging website.
The StoryCorps MobileBooth will be in Austin through Jan. 30 to record the stories of everyday people as part of its oral history project. Since 2003, StoryCorps has collected and archived more than 50,000 interviews with people of all backgrounds and beliefs.
Each conversation is recorded on a free CD to share, and is preserved at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
